Description
The SciAps X-550 is widely recognized as one of the lightest and fastest handheld XRF analyzers on the market. It is specifically engineered for high-performance alloy analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT), and geochemistry. While the X-555 (previously discussed) is optimized for higher power (55 kV) for rare earth elements, the X-550 is the “workhorse” for speed in traditional metal and alloy applications.
Key Capabilities
-
Blazing Speed: Analyzes most common alloys, including aluminum grades, in 1 second or less.
-
Light Element Performance: Optimized internal geometry and a powerful X-ray tube allow for high-precision measurement of low atomic number elements like Mg, Al, Si, P, and S.
-
Specialized Apps: Includes dedicated software for Sulfidic Corrosion (low Si in carbon steel) and Residuals (measuring Cr, Ni, and Cu in HF alkylation units).
-
Lead Paint Analysis: The X-550 Pb variant is a leading tube-based solution for lead paint testing, eliminating the need for radioactive isotopes and the associated regulatory burdens.
